HARRISON TOWNSHIP TRUSTEE MEETING
August 19, 2020
REGULAR MEETING CALL TO ORDER:
Chairman Bill Welsh called the Regular Trustee Meeting of August 19, 2020 to order with the Pledge of Allegiance at 8:00am at the Harrison Township Building, 2746 Weigand Road, Lockbourne, Ohio. Attending were Trustee Joe DeFelice, Trustee Bill Welsh, Fiscal Officer Lindsay Mayse, Fire Chief Chad Noggle, Cemetery Sexton/Superintendent Darryl Ward, Road Superintendent Jared Conner and Zoning Inspector Dale Hoover. Trustee Mike Freeman was absent.
HEARING OF VISITORS: None
ZONING INSPECTOR:
- DeFelice presented a written resignation from Frank Miles resigning from the Zoning Appeals Board effective July 23, 2020. Mr. DeFelice moved and Mr. Welsh seconded to accept the resignation of Frank Miles. The Trustees voted with two affirmative votes to approve the motion.
- DeFelice presented a written resignation from Margaret Egbert resigning from the Zoning Appeals Board effective August 7, 2020. Mr. DeFelice moved and Mr. Welsh seconded to accept the resignation of Margaret Egbert. The Trustees voted with two affirmative votes to approve the motion.
ROAD SUPERINTENDENT:
- Jared reported that the tornado siren is up and running.
- Jared reported that the project to repair the ditch line on Bulen Pierce will begin the first of September.
CEMETERY SEXTON/SUPERINTENDENT:
- Darryl reported that Williams tree service cleared the pine trees hanging over the East fence for a total of $500.00
- Darryl reported that the tires on the John Deere mower will need to be replaced soon since they are starting to crack.
- Darryl made the recommendation to sell the 1988 Dump Truck since it is no longer being used by the township. Welsh moved and Mr. DeFelice seconded to approve doing a sealed bid opening with a minimum bid of $1000.00 at the September 16th meeting. . The Trustees voted with two affirmative votes to approve the motion.
FIRE CHIEF:
- Chief Noggle reported that he received an estimate from Harral and Stevenson for their engineer work for the firehouse remodel.
RESOLUTION 20-88
A RESOLUTION TO APPROVE THE INSPECTION FEE SCHEDULE SUBMITTED BY CHIEF NOGGLE ON AUGUST 19, 2020 ON BEHALF OF THE HARRISON TOWNSHIP DIVISION OF FIRE. Mr. DeFelice moved, Mr. Welsh seconded and the Trustees voted with two affirmative votes to approve R20-88.
OTHER BUSINESS:
RESOLUTION 20-89
A RESOLUTION TO HIRE BEN BITLER AS THE ZONING INSPECTOR STARTING ON SEPTEMBER 1, 2020 WITH A STARTING WAGE OF $800.00 PER MONTH. Mr. DeFelice moved, Mr. Welsh seconded and the Trustees voted with two affirmative votes to approve R20-89.
ACTION ON MINUTES:
August 5, 2020 Regular Meeting: Mr. DeFelice moved and Mr. Welsh seconded a motion to approve the minutes of the regular meeting August 5, 2020 and the Trustees voted with two affirmative votes to approve the motion.
August 17, 2020 Special Meeting: Mr. DeFelice moved and Mr. Welsh seconded a motion to approve the minutes of the special meeting August 17, 2020 and the Trustees voted with two affirmative votes to approve the motion.
FISCAL OFFICER’S REPORT:
RESOLUTION 20-90
A RESOLUTION TO APPROVE AND PAY THE ATTACHED LIST OF BILLS AS THE LAWFUL OBLIGATIONS OF HARRISON TOWNSHIP. Mr. Welsh moved, Mr. DeFelice seconded and the Trustees voted with two affirmative votes to approve R20-90.
ADJOURNMENT:
With no further comments and all scheduled matters attended to, Mr. Welsh moved and Dr. Freeman seconded the motion to adjourn the August 19, 2020 Board of Trustee Meeting. All were in favor and the meeting adjourned at 9:10 am.
