New Construction & Plan Review

New Construction

Residential

The Harrison Township Fire Department requires a review of site plans for planned subdivisions and apartment complexes in before construction may begin. This is to ensure proper placement of water distribution systems and hydrants and to check turn radius requirements to allow access for emergency vehicles.

Single family, residential new construction built without a fire suppression system is exempt from fire safety inspections as long as Ohio Building Code requirements are met, per Fire Department policy. Single family residential homes which will be constructed with a fire suppression system (NFPA 13D/13R) are subject to plan review and permitting (fees apply).

For more information about a NFPA 13R or 13D system, click here.

For information about permits and a schedule of fees, click here.

Residential construction sites must remain accessible to emergency equipment and personnel at all times. (2017 OFC 3310.1)

Site inspections for residential developments may still apply for activities such as thrust blocks, etc.

Commercial

All new commercial & industrial construction is subject to plan review, permitting, fire safety inspections during the construction phase and all acceptance testing.

Fees apply for construction and operational permits. Click here for information about permits and a schedule of fees.
